As many times as I’ve been to the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas I always manage to miss out on shows in the Cambridge Room lately. When I found out Luke Wade and Matt McAndrew would be hitting the stage I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. The Cambridge Room holds a special place in my heart because it was the first time I was introduced to live music, so I was more than happy to be back.

Matt McAndrew greeted the crowd with a smile and his guitar. Although his performance was simple, his voice filled the room and fans began to sing along. Matt chatted to the crowd as if he was having a regular conversation to go along with his casual performance. He informed everyone about his loop pedal that was much similar to Ed Sheeran’s and proceeded to cover Tenerife Sea. Along with playing originals off his newest album Rush In Slowly, he took many requests and covered various artists such as The 1975.

There was a short break and suddenly the room filled with sounds of drums and guitars. The crowd cheered as Luke Wade walked on stage. The audience began to move as he began to sing  Say It Out Loud, a new song off his latest record Only Ghosts. Several songs in Luke Wade began to share a few heart to heart moments about his personal life and what it was like to be on The Voice. Luke Wade’s setlist consisted of songs old and new and just like that the night came to an end, but not without an encore with a few more crowd favorites and a cover of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.

After the show the musicians stuck around to meet every single fan. I was in a room full of strangers, but I have never felt a more connected fan base. It truly felt like a Friday night spent with family.
